Early news items generated by Ivar’s Seafood Restaurants are a library unto themselves spanning seven decades. Ivar Haglund, our founder, was a master of old fashioned media stunts and a darling of the local press. If there was an opportunity, he’d take it—from using the syrup spilled by overturned truck to pushing a baby seal in a stroller, dropped jaws and raised eyebrows were part Ivar’s genius. Beyond the publicity, there has always been great food, engaging surroundings, and friendly service to back the restaurant’s success—and it comes through in the press that continues today.
