It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Ivar’s Restaurants

Share:

The holiday season is back again and here at Ivar’s, we’re getting ready for the most wonderful time of year with our lineup of festive favorites. That’s right, Ivar's most beloved and jolliest of events are back (and some better than before!). From Santa Clam appearances and selfies with the big guy himself to live entertainment from local carolers and a Giving Tree throughout the season, we have it all across our locations.

  • All is clam, all is bright! As one of the largest public light displays on the Eastside, the 26th annual Clam Lights Presented by Ivar’s Restaurants is back at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park in Renton, opening with a special ceremony on Friday, Dec. 6 and running through Jan. 1, 2020. Festive activities start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the official lighting at 5:45 p.m., igniting thousands of twinkling lights across the park’s greenery. The Rainier Yacht Club Parade of Boats, Ivar’s Santa Clam and live entertainment with Lindbergh High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble will treat spectators to holiday cheer throughout the evening along with a sing-along around a bonfire featuring holiday tunes. A selfie station with Santa, Mrs. Claus and a roving Ivar’s Santa Clam will be back this year for guests to snap the perfect picture, now joined by a princess and snowman from a hit winter-themed movie! Don’t forget to stop by Ivar’s Seafood Bar to warm up with a cup of Ivar’s famous clam chowder!

Wondering just how many lights go into our holiday extravaganza? We’ll break it down for you:

♦ Five miles of extension cords

♦ Almost three tons of lights

♦ 200,000 total lights

♦ 3,000 50-mini light strings (150,000 total mini lights)

♦ Sequoia trees: 11 vertical strands with 100 lights per tree (95 total trees)

♦ Selfie station in the Belvedere has 275 50-light strands (13,750 total lights)

  • Strike a pose with Ivar’s Santa Clam at Ivar’s Acres of Clams (Pier 54, 1001 Alaskan Way). Ivar’s beloved Dancing Clam is getting a jolly new look as the annual “Santa” Clam, adorned with festive holiday garb for children and families to take a holiday photo. As a bonus, kids will also receive a free holiday treat. • Help a child in need this holiday season by granting a wish from Ivar’s Giving Tree, benefiting families at Childhaven. Stop by participating Ivar’s and Kidd Valley restaurants to select a tag from the Giving Tree and return the unwrapped gift to the same location by no later than Dec. 16. The program contributes 2,000 gifts to Childhaven families annually. Started in 1909, Childhaven is a statewide advocate and national model in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect; learn more at childhaven.org.
